On Thursday, December 18th, the PTHS Music Department is having its annual Winter Concert, featuring the choir, the Nocktaves, the concert band, and the jazz band. In a meeting with the director of the Concert Band, Mr. Streifer said that the band utilizes their class time, band lessons during lunch, and their Panther Period to prepare for the concert. When asked about the senior class, Mr. Streifer commends them for their leadership and their determination overall.

The following is a list of the seniors in Concert Band, to recognize them for their leadership and dedication over the last four years:
Angelina Bernhardt-Meli - Flute in Concert Band
Aimee Sibi - Flute in Concert Band
Lake Spillane - Flute in Concert Band
Christina Dewey - Clarinet in Concert Band
Claire Sittig - Clarinet in Concert Band
Nico Bellini - Tuba in Concert Band
Damian Jiosi - Alto Saxophone in Jazz Band and Concert Band
Andrew Meyer - Trumpet in Jazz Band and Concert Band
Dora Chen - Trumpet in Jazz Band and Concert Band
Sean Founier - Trumpet in Jazz Band
Haylee Valent - Trombone in Jazz Band and Concert Band
Lana Roberto - Piano in Jazz Band and Percussion in Concert Band
Jack Clements - Drumset in Jazz Band and Euphonium in Concert Band
The audience of the concert can expect quite a few solos from both the Concert and Jazz bands. The Concert Band in particular will feature some flute, alto, clarinet, and mallet solos. They will be performing a piece called Toboggan, which is Mr. Streifer's personal favorite piece in the performance, due to its wintry and festive elements. The band will also perform selections from the Nutcracker and a piece called Yuletide Festival, which is a holiday medley. Finally, they will feature a surprise song encore, which will no doubt be just as amazing as the rest of the performance.
Mr. Streifer says that the band is another great group this year.
"I feel like the concert is a good chance to display the skills of the students and how much work [they've] been doing, and to, hopefully, make the audience feel something and feel really connected to the holiday season. Just to feel something special," Streifer said during our interview. "I think it's important that everyone goes to at least one holiday concert every year."
