The boys' soccer season was filled with determination and teamwork. Each preseason practice began with rigorous runs, either tackling The Course, a challenging 3-mile run or a 2-mile route, all aimed at pushing them into peak physical condition for the competitive season ahead. Their dedication was clear as they worked tirelessly throughout the summer, focusing on both conditioning and sharpening their skills.
After the first two weeks of grueling practice, the boys took some time to relax and bond as a team at the local diner. Their first game took place at Hanover Park, where they faced off against a tough opponent. In a thrilling match that went into overtime, they emerged victorious with a score of 2-1, starting their season with confidence.
Their game later in the season against Kinnelon was equally intense, with high tensions throughout. The boys pulled through with a satisfying 2-1 win with goals scored by Kieran Brady and Ethan Vintimilla. Entering the Caldwell game, they had an impressive four-game winning streak and were determined to secure the 4th seed in the state tournament. At halftime, they found themselves trailing 1-0, but they did not give up. They ultimately came back to win the match 2-1 in another overtime victory. The game-clinching goal was scored by Kieran Brady, who celebrated his moment with a signature backflip.
They entered the state tournament with confidence and played extremely hard against Lenape Valley. The first half ended with Lenape leading 1-0. In the second half, Salvatore D'Alessio scored a goal, bringing the game to a 1-1 tie. The match went into double overtime, but neither team was able to score. Ultimately, the teams went into a shootout, where, unfortunately, Lenape emerged victorious.
Despite some challenges, the boys had a fantastic season, finishing with an 11-6-3 record. They were led by captains Luke White and Mark Colvin, along with Coach Joseph Gennarelli. The team's top goal scorers were Sebastian Barahona, who recorded 9 goals and 8 assists, and Kieran Brady, with 7 goals and 4 assists.
Great job boys!
